Editorial policy

BestBusinessLoans is an editorial site, not a quote-form. This page sets out how reviews and listicles are written, how independence is maintained, and what to do if you find something wrong.

Editorial independence

Reviews and rankings on BestBusinessLoans are not for sale. We do not accept payment, sponsorship, gifts, free hardware, or affiliate-tier preference in exchange for a review placement, a higher ranking, or a more positive write-up. If a lender offers any of these, the offer is recorded in our internal log and disclosed on the relevant review.

Some links on the site are commission-bearing. None of those commission relationships influence what we write. See how we are funded for the full disclosure.

How a review is written

  1. The lender is selected from our review pipeline, not solicited by the lender.
  2. We pull the publicly available product sheet, rate range, eligibility criteria and known restrictions.
  3. We record the lender's documented application steps, soft-search behaviour and stated decision time from its published terms and quote pages.
  4. We compare rates and eligibility against three named alternatives in the same product category.
  5. We surface the decline reasons we have seen documented across review platforms (Trustpilot, Reddit, Google reviews).
  6. The author signs the review with their name and the date it was last reviewed.

Sources we use

  • Companies House for legal entity verification and director records.
  • FCA Register for FRN, permissions and consumer-credit status.
  • Bank of England base rate for rate context.
  • UK Finance for SME lending market data.
  • Lender websites and product PDFs for current rates and criteria.
  • Trustpilot, Google reviews and applicant-side reports for decline patterns.

Every review lists its primary sources at the foot of the page. Where we cite a number we link to the source.

Updates and "Last reviewed" dates

Each review carries a "Last reviewed" date. When rates change, products are withdrawn, eligibility tightens or a new finding is added, the page is updated and the date moves. Material changes are logged in a short footer note so a returning reader can see what shifted.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, email editorial@bestbusinessloans.ai with the page URL and the correction. We respond inside two working days. If the correction is material we update the page, log the change in the footer, and credit the source where appropriate.

Conflicts of interest

Best Business Loans Ltd owns and operates BestBusinessLoans as a standalone editorial site. Reviews are not paid for, and ranking position is not influenced by any commercial relationship with the lenders covered. The company also owns separate sister sites in the UK SME finance space; those are operated independently with their own editorial policies. This separation is documented and audited annually.

What we will not do

  • Take payment for review placements, "best of" inclusion, or ranking position.
  • Publish AI-generated reviews or listicles. AI tools may assist with research and drafting; every published review is read, edited and signed by a named author.
  • Quote rates "from X%" without disclosing the typical APR range and the criteria that earn the headline rate.
  • Share lead data outside Best Business Loans Ltd's own broker panel. The /get-quotes/ form is the only application route on this site.
